Our Board – Community Volunteers Working Together
The Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization is a non-profit entity founded to support recreational opportunities in Piedmont. The 25 member board is composed of community volunteers, all of whom have donated their time and expertise to improving Moraga Canyon and creating a new community park. PRFO is a registered 501©3.

Rod Brown
Rod and Barbara Brown have lived in Piedmont for 25 years, and have two sons at PHS and PMS. Rod and Barbara are both active community volunteers with stints on Swim Club Board, Piedmont Baseball Foundation Board, Skyline Lacrosse Board, Piedmont Boosters, the Piedmont Boy Scout Council, and the Piedmont Community Church.
Glyn Burge
Glyn and his wife Terri have lived in Piedmont since 1999, and have three children in Piedmont schools. Glyn is a member and former President of the Wildwood School Dads Club, active in Boy Scouts and a board member of the Piedmont Baseball Foundation since 2004, including President from 2007-2009.
Murray Davis
Murray has been a resident of Piedmont since 1991. He coached in the Piedmont Baseball Foundation starting in 2002, served as President from 2005-2007 and is a current board member. He is a founding member of PARCS and is on the board of the High School Boosters.
M.J. Dodds
M.J. is active in PUSD schools, including stints as President and Treasurer of the Havens Parents Club, President of the PMS Parents Club, Treasurer and VP-Funding of the PHS Parents Club, and Treasurer of Boosters, as well as a member of Children’s Support League. Her husband, Chris, has given countless hours coaching youth basketball and soccer.
Margaret Heafey
Margaret and Matt Heafey have lived in Piedmont since 1996 and have two sons at PHS. Margaret is currently President of PHS Boosters and member of the PHS Site Council, and was previously President of the PMS Parents Club, VP of Havens Parents Club and Chair of the Annual Fund Campaign for two years.
Dana Kirby
Dana and her husband John have lived in Piedmont since 1982. Dana’s commitment to public service in Piedmont has been recognized by the Betty C. Howard and Singer Awards for service to Piedmont. Her volunteerism includes having the vision to establish a competitive athletic league for girls (Piedmont Bobby Sox – PBSF), six years on the Recreation Commission, PASS President and PBF Fields Coordinator.
John Kirby
John has received numerous awards for his service to Piedmont including the Betty C. Howard Recreation Service Award 1998; Piedmont Boy Scouts Singer Award; City of Piedmont Volunteer Award 1998; Piedmont Soccer Club Coach of the Year 2001. John served on the Piedmont Recreation Commission 1992-1998, Chairman 1996-1998; Piedmont High School Boosters Club, 1998-2001, President 1999-2000; Piedmont Soccer Board, 1992-1999; Piedmont Soccer Club, coach 1988-2002; Piedmont Baseball Foundation, coach 1992-1997; Piedmont Softball Foundation, coach 1998-1999; Piedmont Recreation Department coach (T Ball, basketball and flag football), 1988-2008. He has also coached PHS JV basketball since 1999.
Bob Lally
Bob has lived in Piedmont with his wife Kim and three children since 1996. Bob served on the Skyline Lacrosse Board for 4 years, two years and the club’s game scheduler and 2 years as the President. His involvement as a game scheduler gives him a unique perspective into the shortage of adequate field space for games and practice. He also serves on the Citizen’s Oversight Committee for the PUSD Seismic Bond program.
Anne-Marie Lamarche
Anne-Marie has been volunteering in Piedmont for over 20 years, including co-founding the first tri-school check-writing campaign in 1994 and serving as Communications Chair for the 2009 Yes on B &E campaign. She spent 17 years on one or more parent club boards, including stints as president of the Wildwood and Piedmont High School parents’ club boards, and two years as president of the Associated Parent Club Boards of Piedmont; currently she is active on the Piedmont Education Foundation board. Anne-Marie is an active volunteer with the Piedmont Boy Scout Council and in 2007 she was recognized as a Distinguished Scouter by Troop 15 and received the Council’s Sid Singer Award for service to youth; this year and she was honored with Boy Scouts of America’s District Award of Merit. She and her husband Mark were co-recipients of the 2009 Art Hecht Volunteer-of-the-Year award for service to Piedmont youth.
Valerie Matzger
Valerie has lived in Piedmont since 1976 with her husband John where she raised two children and went on to serve as Mayor of Piedmont. Along the way she did stints on several City Committees and Commissions (Grassy Playfields, Recycling, Capital Improvements Projects) before serving for eight years on the City Council, the last two years as Mayor.
Mark Menke
Mark and his wife Anne-Marie Lamarche were selected for the 2009 Art Hecht award recognizing service to Piedmont youth. Mark Menke has been active in the Piedmont community for 20 years, volunteering with numerous youth activities from Odyssey of the Mind to Boy Scouts and youth athletics, including coaching girls soccer for twelve years and serving as a member of the Piedmont Soccer Club Board, including two years as President. Mark currently serves on the board of Piedmont High School Boosters Club, where his roles have included two years as treasurer and two years as president. Mark was active in Piedmont Boy Scout’s Troop 15, serving as an adult leader for summer hikes, including the 2007 90-mile hike and ascent of Mt. Whitney.
Conna McCarthy
Conna and her husband Peter Craigie have lived in Piedmont for 22 years and have three children. She currently serves on the Piedmont Educational Foundation Board of Directors, the PHS Wellness Center Steering Committee, the PHS Boosters Board of Directors, National Charity League Chapter Board of Directors, and the PHS Parent Club Board of Directors. She’s a past member of the City of Piedmont Tax Services Commission, co-chair of Measure E School Safety Campaign, past President PMS Parent Club and past member of APCP.
Kim Rhody
Kim Rhody is 13 year Piedmont resident and community volunteer. She serves or has served on the boards of Beach Elementary, PMS and Orion Academy, Piedmont Baseball Foundation, Piedmont Soccer Club, Bay Oaks Soccer Club, is a member of the PUSD green initiatives committee and founding member of the Beach Green Team and Beach Families for Community Service. She and her husband, Bob, have 3 children who attended Beach Elementary and are currently at PMS and Orion Academy.
Karen Sullivan
Karen and husband Tom have lived in Piedmont for 21 years and have two girls in the Piedmont School System (8th and 12th grades). She has been on several city commissions (Park Commission, Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Co-chair of Dracena Park Tot Lot Improvements and co-chair of fundraising, Trustee and Recording Secretary of Piedmont Beautification Foundation (PBF), Parcel Tax Committee for City, Parcel Tax Precinct Captain for School Parcel Tax). She has volunteered for the Piedmont schools in various board positions, co-chaired the Tri-School Fundraiser and worked on the Annual Campaign, and is active with the Piedmont Garden Club.
Rick Smith
Rick, and wife Amal, have two boys who are attending PMS and PHS. He is a Board member of the North Oakland-South Oakland Little League (NOLLSOLL) and past Board member of the Piedmont Soccer Club. In addition, he has coached soccer and Little League for the past 10 years. He is a volunteer consultant for the Piedmont Education Foundation, while Amal serves as Treasurer.
Terry Tumey
Terry and his wife Candace have two children, one attending preschool and the other attending PMS. Terry brings a long sports career to PRFO including his playing years as a football standout for UCLA and later as an NFL executive with the San Francisco 49ers. He currently serves as Athletic Director for Dominican University.
