About Blair Park

Blair Park is a city-owned 5.62 acre parcel of land on Moraga Avenue in Piedmont. The proposed project calls for the development of 3.59 acres of this land to create play fields and park space to help alleviate the critical shortage of recreational fields facing Piedmont youth sports and recreation programs. The balance of 2.03 acres will remain as a continuous, undeveloped natural corridor.

Blair Park is not just for youth sports. The park will be connected by sidewalks to nearby streets and will have a place for dog walking, unstructured play, organized sports and perhaps a community garden. While the larger field is primarily for sports use, the smaller, natural grass field will be limited on weekends to use by residents as a public park. The current site is inaccessible except to those who live adjacent to it. Additionally, the smaller, grassy field is proposed to be used for weekday practices only and not for weekend games and therefore available all weekend, all summer and during non-practice times for community recreation and relaxation.

Blair Park is supported by all of the major sports organizations and clubs in the Piedmont/Oakland area including the Piedmont Youth Soccer Club, the Jack London Youth Soccer League, the Piedmont Baseball and Softball Foundations, North Oakland/South Oakland Little League and Skyline Lacrosse.
